Leagues

Leagues are national competitions with one or more ranked divisions. In a division teams play against each other twice, once at their home ground and one as the visitor. A victory is worth 3 points and a draw is worth 1 point. At the end of the season the best qualified teams in a lower division are promoted to the next higher division in the following season while the worst qualified teams in a higher division are relegated.

When two or more teams have the same number of points there are some country specific criteria to break the tie. The current criteria for all countries except Brazil is:

1) Goals scored – Goals conceived
2) Goals scored
3) Number of victories

And in Brazil:

1) Number of victories
2) Goals scored – Goals conceived
3) Goals scored

We know there are other criteira like direct match between tied teams or disciplinary points, but for now we'll use only the above criteria.
